Swachh Vidyalaya

In pursuant of the announcement of Hon’ble Prime Minister on 15 August 2014 that all schools in the country should have toilets, with separate toilets for girls, the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Human Resources Development have launched a campaign “Swachh Vidyalaya” with the aim of providing toilets to all schools in India within a period of one year.

 

Some of the salient features of this campaign are:

 

i) Individual/corporate institutions who are interested in building toilet blocks in any school will be encouraged to do so and will be allocated schools of their choice by the Ministry of Human Resource Development/State Governments.

 

ii) Private Sector companies are particularly encouraged to do the construction on their own. The list of schools requiring toilets and the contact details of nodal officers in each districts/states are available at    <http://udise.in/SRC-New/ReportModule/ Toilet/ Report.aspx>.

 

iii) The indicative design of the toilet blocks, along with estimated unit cost is available at www.mhrd.gov.in/sites/swt/index.html. Contributors are encouraged to provide maintenance as well.
