Celebration of Guru Purab

The Embassy of India, Rome celebrated birth anniversary of Guru Nanak ji at the Chancery on Friday, November 19. The celebration was attended by representatives of the Indian diaspora, UN organizations, embassy officials and their families. 

2. On the auspicious occasion, Ambassador of India Dr Neena Malhotra while sharing her greetings, spoke at length about the relevance of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings of peace, brotherhood and tolerance which will always remain a guiding light for humanity. In the past days, Ambassador had already connected, through a well-attended virtual meeting, with representatives of the Sikh Community in Italy and held discussions on consular matters, forthcoming cultural initiatives and community events in the framework of celebrations of #AmritMahotsav and on the eve of Guru Purab.

3. The celebration entailed a documentary screening and a touching duo musical performance which enchanted the audience with the singing of kirtans accompanied by the harmonium and tabla playing. 

4. The Guru Purab celebration was well received by the public who had a wide multireligious background and gathered to pay homage to one of the most revered personalities of India, a Guru for all, irrespective of one’s own faith.
