Reverse Buyers Sellers Meet - Promotion of Mango and Mango Products 15th & 16th May 2018 at Mumbai, INDIA

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India in association with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), is organizing the 'Reverse Buyers and Sellers Meet' for promotion of Exports of Mango and Mango Products from India from 15th May to 16th May 2018 at Mumbai, Maharashtra.


India's diverse climate ensures availability of a variety of fruits & vegetables. It ranks second in fruits and vegetables production in the world and is the world's largest producer of bananas, papaya, mangoes and guavas.


India is the home of about 1000 varieties of mangoes - the King of Fruits,  and produces 18.6 Million MT, contributing which accounts for 40.48% of the total world production of mango. There is increasing acceptance of horticulture produce from the country. India exports fresh Fruits and vegetables to over 40 countries. In 2016-‘17, India exported fresh fruits and vegetables worth USD 1.6 Billion and processed fruits and vegetables worth USD 1.1 Bn. Total export of mangoes from India was 59.22 thousand tons, valuing USD 66.94 Million during 2016-17. India is also a major exporter of Mango Pulp in the world. The country has exported 1,35,621.22 MT of Mango Pulp to the world for the worth of USD 129.29 Million (Rs. 864.97 crores) during the year 2016-‘17.


There have been concurrent developments in the areas of state-of-the-art cold chain infrastructure and pack houses, quality assurance measures, Centres for Perishable Cargoes, integrated post-harvest handling facilities. Capacity building initiatives at the farmers, processors and exporters levels has also contributed towards export development.


Keeping in view the different country requirements, internationally recognized treatment facilities like Hot water treatment, Vapour heat treatment and Irradiation facilities have also been set up at various locations across the production belts. Unique product identification system, compliant to the traceability networking and Residue Monitoring Plan has been developed for the consumer safety and readiness to product recall in case of any emergency. In view of the advantage that India has in mango production, and to leverage the same, the RBSM is being organized. 


Interested Buyers from Italy are invited to the event. APEDA, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, is also announced that, cost of air travel by economy class (actual air fare or up to USD 1200 per buyer whichever is lower) will be reimbursed. The organizers will also make arrangements for 2 nights stay in star hotels with all local transfers and meals. Itinerary and e-brochure is being shared separately.
